The Agunechemba Security Squad has said that the outfit is inching closer to the whereabouts of an Anambra-based businessman who was abducted by gunmen last week.

The businessman, whose name has been kept top secret by security operatives, was reportedly abducted on his way to a church function in Awka, Anambra State.

Already, contacts between the abductors and his relatives have been established; it has been confirmed that the abductors could not escape with their victims outside the state as was being feared.

According to the Publicity Secretary of Agunechemba, Comerade Nweke Nweke, the location is being established, adding that due to the security nature of its operations, more details cannot be disclosed in the interest of the life of the victim.

“Agunechemba wishes to assure the general public that the outfit is on top of the operations and we are indeed inching close to the said location.

“In a security operation of this nature it is not all information would be disclosed to the public for the safety of the victim, and in due time we shall make public the details of our operations”, he said.

As a result of the incident, the community where the victim came from has postponed its New Yam festival, as according to the Town, they cannot be in a celebratory mood when a kinsman is under the strong hold of kidnappers.
