The Ondo State Security Network codenamed Amotekun has rescued two farmers who were kidnapped by hoodlums along the Ondo-Ife road in Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area of the state last week.

Amotekun also arrested 15 persons for various offences ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling and housebreaking.

According to the Commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, one of the couples that was rescued died in the bush where he was kept by the suspected kidnappers.

Adeleye said the search and rescue efforts were coordinated by the Department of State Security (DSS), men of the Nigeria Police and Amotekun.

Addressing reporters about the activities of the agency, Adeleye said, “A couple of days ago, we had this isolated case of kidnapping in Okeigbo, and nine of the Special Squad of Amotekun moved immediately we received the distress call.

“We equally contacted sister security agencies, especially the Department of State Security, for joint tracking. And we commenced action until about 72 hours after the Governor called me personally and said that we must at all costs rescue these victims despite all we have been doing.

“I am glad to let you know that several kilometres away from the scene of crime, we successfully secured the release of the two of them that were kidnapped in Okeigbo.

“Not without a lot of trouble because the kidnappers equally deceived us on the geolocation with the beach. I think every day they are coming up with new strategies, and that is why we equally developed non-kinetic measures in addition to intelligence-driven bush combing that we did.”

Adeleye said the Corps arrested a group that specialised in kidnapping and rustling cattle from Fulani herdsmen in Ore, Ode-Aye, Ofosu, Omotosho, and Odigbo Local Government.

He said they arrested the main culprits, who, in collaboration with some at large, also stole these cows in three different locations.

Also, he said the Command arrested those who buy the stolen cows from the rustlers. He said they bought the stolen cows and sold them at 100.000 per cow.

According to him, “These cow rustlers and their collaborators are on parade. We have two people, Akinlolu and Akintimi, who are being charged for illegal possession of firearms.

“Also, we have Jamiu who specialises in vandalising houses that are under construction. He removes all electrical cables, removes all plumbing installations, and a lot of things in the houses. ”

Adeleye said the Command arrested one Olajide and Dada who approached a palace in Odigbo and stole the iron rod within the palace.

He said the Command arrested a 25-year-old man who stole a motorcycle and sold it at Ore.
