The candidate of the Allied People’s Movement in the Ondo Central Senatorial District of Ondo State, Mr Sunday Falae, has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress would be defeated in the senatorial district in 2027.

Falae stated this in a chat with our correspondent on Sunday, in Akure, the state capital.

He said the central senatorial district of the state deserved better representation at the National Assembly.

According to him, the ruling party had not made any serious impact on the people of the senatorial district, particularly Akure, the state capital.

He stressed that the APM would shock the ruling party in the election.

Falae said, “I heard the APC bragging that they have no opposition in Ondo. Of course, everybody would say that.

It’s just to intimidate people.

“What have they done for the people? No impact. But they know, and I’m sure their candidates know that they have opposition. Because when there are some names you mention, they will shake.

‎”Trust me, there is opposition, although the campaign has not started officially. By the time the campaign kicks off properly, they will know that there is serious opposition.

“Right now, even within their party, there is opposition. The APM would shock them at the poll in 2027.”

‎‎Expressing optimism about his victory, Falae, who is the nephew of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, now traditional ruler, Oba Olu Falae, said he has a brighter chance as he is well grounded in the senatorial district.‎

‎“The chances are with the people, and luckily, politics nowadays is no longer just about the party. It is about personality. That is the truth.

‎“Many of those who have won elections in this state in the past, if it had been solely about party power, they would not have won. It was because of their personality and popularity.

“What drives me is the people. I always say this: I believe some people’s destinies are tied to me and my success. Somebody got me to where I am today, and I believe I need to pay it back.

“If you know me, you know that since I have been in politics, since 2010, I have not gotten any position, received any contract or benefited from anything. The money I make is what I have been spending to help empower people.

“Now, it has got to a point where I want to do more, and I believe representation at the Senate will help a lot in empowering people. I also believe that representation should get to the grassroots.

“So, I know what I have been through in my life. I know where the shoe pinches, and I have lived that life before. If I get elected, my priorities will include the development of our senatorial district, women and youth empowerment, community development, among others,” he stated.
