The family of late Nollywood actress, Temitope Osoba, has recounted her final moments, saying she repeatedly expressed fears that she would die on the same day she eventually passed away.

Osoba’s maternal aunt, Pejuola Ogunesan, made the disclosure during an interview with actor Kunle Afod and another family member, Dupe, on Sunday.

Pejuola said Osoba told her at a police station that her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, had previously told her that she would die that day.

According to Pejuola, she had been estranged from Osoba since 2023, when the actress left Evercare Hospital, Lekki, where she was receiving treatment for breast cancer, with Onadeko and actress Foluke Daramola.

She said the relationship between Osoba and members of her family deteriorated after the actress accused them of taking her phone away while she was preparing for surgery.

She said, “When she called me that she was going to die that day, although we were not on good terms after she left Evercare Hospital in Lekki with her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, and actress Foluke Daramola in 2023.

“She had told them that she didn’t want to see us because we collected her phone when she was supposed to focus on the surgery for her breast cancer.

“We tried calling her and discovered that she had blocked all of us. Since then, I swore never to have anything to do with her again. I called my elder sister, whom she had also called, and we headed for the police station where she was.”

Pejuola said the actress recognised her and her sister when they arrived at the police station and introduced them to the Divisional Police Officer as her aunties.

She explained that Osoba had planned to visit a prophetess, Kehinde Osoba, whom she considered a family member, after she was advised to seek spiritual help over strange dreams that had reportedly affected her ability to eat.

“She (Temitope) would complain of not being able to sleep, seeing monsters and the fiancé. Now that Aunty Peju is here, she would die. She mentioned that the fiancé had told her that they would post her obituary that day,” the aunt said.

Pejuola further alleged that Osoba jumped out of a vehicle after Lagos State Traffic Management Authority officials stopped another vehicle travelling ahead of them.

She said Osoba told one of the officials that she did not know where they were taking her and demanded that they be taken to a police station.

According to the aunt, Osoba later spoke about alleged mistreatment and humiliation, while also making several allegations against Onadeko.

She claimed that Osoba accused the prophet of having relationships with several women and said he had asked her to leave his home and pretend that they had ended their relationship for two months. Pejuola said the situation eventually resulted in Osoba staying with her hairstylist.

The aunt also said Osoba told her that she had suffered three miscarriages despite having been advised against becoming pregnant within five years of her surgery.

Pejuola said the family subsequently contacted Kehinde Osoba, the prophetess Temitope intended to visit. However, she said the woman asked them not to bring the actress to the church, promising instead to pick her up after her programme.

The family waited for several hours, but Pejuola said the church was eventually found locked and the prophetess could no longer be reached.

She said the family then took Osoba to another church, where prayers were offered after the actress became increasingly distressed.

“She was just saying that the guy said she would die today,” she added.

Pejuola said Osoba later remained with the family, but her condition continued to worsen.

According to her, the actress made a social media post titled “Ogo tuntun” (new glory), sent messages to several people and complained of feeling uncomfortable.

As her condition deteriorated, the family rushed her to a hospital.

Pejuola said the family was referred to the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital, but Osoba died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

“When we got there, they referred us to OSUTH. Suddenly, she just defecated in the car. Her head suddenly dropped. Before we could get to the emergency, she was confirmed dead,” she said.

The family’s account follows remarks by Osoba’s fiancé, Onadeko, who recently addressed the circumstances surrounding her death and disputed some claims made after her demise, including reports that she died at a police station.

The differing accounts have since raised questions about Osoba’s movements on the day she died, her relationship with people around her and the events leading up to her death.

Osoba, who appeared in several Nollywood productions, died at the age of 40.

Her burial is scheduled to take place in Iperu-Remo, Ogun State, where family members, colleagues and friends are expected to gather.
