The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Kano State, Alhaji Ibrahim Alamin Little, has warned Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to prepare to vacate the Government House, predicting that he will be defeated in the 2027 governorship election.

Little made the declaration in Kano during a press briefing where he announced Abdulkadir Shehu Bari from Rogo Local Government Area as his running mate for the 2027 election.

He accused the Yusuf administration of engaging in what he described as “window dressing” in the execution of projects, saying the people of the state were yearning for a government capable of addressing the challenges confronting them.

According to him, the electorate would vote the incumbent government out in 2027 due to growing concerns over drug abuse, education, healthcare and the agricultural sector.

Little particularly expressed concern over the increasing number of youths involved in the sale and consumption of illicit drugs, describing drug abuse as one of the major challenges facing the state.

He also criticised the government for what he described as inadequate attention to education and healthcare, as well as insufficient support for farmers.

The ADC candidate said agriculture remained the backbone of Kano’s economy but argued that farmers required better access to fertiliser, equipment and other inputs to increase productivity.

Little pledged that, if elected, his administration would prioritise education, healthcare, youth development and women’s empowerment.

He also promised to tackle drug abuse and introduce social welfare programmes for vulnerable groups, including widows, orphans and out-of-school children.

“Once we are ushered into the Kano Government House after the 2027 elections, we will ensure that we tackle the decay in the health sector and provide meaningful social welfare programmes for vulnerable members of society,” he said.

Little further promised a comprehensive overhaul of the governance system to ensure equal opportunities for citizens, irrespective of their social status or background.

He said his administration would promote innovation and entrepreneurship by establishing economic clusters across different sectors.

According to him, the initiative would help transform Kano from a predominantly consumer society into a productive economy capable of creating jobs, generating wealth and improving residents’ standard of living.

He urged the people of Kano to support the ADC, promising that the party would promote inclusive governance and provide citizens with greater opportunities to participate in the development of the state.
