Operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, RRS, have arrested more than 30 suspected miscreants during a midnight operation along the Lekki-Ajah Expressway.
The suspects were arrested on Sunday over alleged harassment and intimidation of motorists and other road users along the busy corridor.
Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed the arrests in a statement posted on Facebook.
Wahab said the suspects allegedly demanded money from motorists and, in some cases, damaged vehicles when their demands were rejected.
According to him, the operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts by the state government to curb activities threatening public safety and the free movement of motorists.
He added that the RRS would continue intelligence-led operations and enforcement against individuals and groups involved in activities capable of disturbing public order across Lagos.
