Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan have parted ways with their head coach, Nurudeen Aweroro, with immediate effect.

The Nigeria Premier Football League club also relieved Team Manager Tammy Tamuno and Assistant Coach Shakiru Lawal of their duties.

According to a statement from the club, the decision was reached by mutual agreement after discussions between both parties.

Aweroro joined Shooting Stars in July 2025 and spent one season with the club.

His departure comes just weeks before the start of the 2026/27 NPFL season.

The coach guided Shooting Stars to third place in the 2025/26 league season, the club’s best finish in 27 years. The result also earned the Oluyole Warriors a place in continental football.

Despite the team’s impressive performance, the club said it had agreed with Aweroro, Tamuno and Lawal to end their contracts amicably.

Shooting Stars said it appreciated the trio for their commitment, professionalism and contributions during their time at the club.

The club also thanked them for helping the team return to continental football and wished them success in their future careers.

Coach Aweroro

Other members of the technical crew will take charge of the team temporarily until a new head coach is appointed.

Shooting Stars will begin their 2026/27 NPFL campaign against Inter Lagos at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on August 28.

The club will also face Tunisian side CS Sfaxien in the first qualifying round of the CAF Confederation Cup in early September.
