Three armed men hit two South Side businesses five minutes apart in an early morning robbery spree on Saturday, displaying handguns and demanding property before fleeing in the same vehicle, according to a Chicago Police Department community alert covering the 9th and 8th Districts.
The Two Robberies
At 5:45 a.m. on August 9, 2026, three unknown offenders entered a business establishment on the 5000 block of South Western Boulevard in the Back of the Yards neighborhood in the 9th District.
The offenders displayed handguns, demanded property from the store, and fled.
Five minutes later at 5:50 a.m., the same crew entered a business on the 4000 block of West 59th Street in the West Lawn neighborhood in the 8th District.
They again displayed handguns, demanded property, and fled.
In both incidents, the offenders took property from the store before leaving the scene in a white Hyundai Tucson.
Suspect Description
Chicago Police describe the suspects as three Black males wearing dark clothing and masks.
Two of the offenders wore black masks.
The third offender wore a white mask.
The suspects fled both scenes in a white Hyundai Tucson.
