The Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Uko Umoh, has commended Governor Umo Eno for attending the funeral of Deaconess Jenny Onofiok Ufot despite his demanding official engagements.

In a statement released on behalf of the people of Etinan, Umoh described the governor’s presence at the funeral on Saturday, August 8, as a demonstration of compassion, solidarity and commitment to the people.

He also commended the governor for recognising the legacy of the late matriarch, whom he described as a woman who devoted her life to God, her family and community.

The council chairman further appreciated the governor for announcing the construction of the Afaha Akpan Ekpo Road during the funeral, describing the project as a fitting tribute to the deceased.

“The announcement of the construction of Afaha Akpan Ekpo Road at the funeral ceremony is, to us in Etinan, the best way to immortalise our dear mother, who gave her all in service to God and her community,” Umoh said.

Umoh added that the people of Etinan remained grateful for Eno’s commitment to infrastructure development and the welfare of communities across the state.
