Mohamed Salah has moved into the same Trabzon property previously occupied by former Super Eagles striker Anthony Nwakaeme following his move to Turkish club Trabzonspor, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The revelation came from Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan, who dismissed speculation surrounding the accommodation provided for the Egyptian forward and said the property had previously been home to one of the club’s Nigerian stars.

“We currently have some houses in Trabzon that we’ve arranged for, let me put it this way: For example, the house he’s staying in now is the same house Nwakaeme used to stay in,” Dogan said, in quotes relayed by Fanatik.

The Trabzonspor president said the club maintains several properties for its players and insisted there was nothing unusual about the arrangement.

“There are about seven to eight houses there, villas, standard. Certain images are circulating, but there’s no big fuss about it. I don’t know where else in Trabzon such a house exists; I don’t even know if one exists,” he added.

Nwakaeme spent two spells with Trabzonspor and became a fan favourite during his time at the club before leaving at the end of last season. The 37-year-old finished his playing career with the club after helping them win the Turkish Cup in May, while the club has offered him a scouting role following his retirement.

Salah’s arrival has also been tipped to benefit Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu, with former Trabzonspor forward Emre Gural suggesting the Egyptian’s presence could create more space for the Nigerian striker.

“Paul Onuachu will now receive the ball in a much different way and create different positions. Onuachu will create more space because the opposing team’s players will focus on Mohamed Salah,” Gural told Turkiyegazetesi.

“If he finds a little more space thanks to Salah, he can score many different goals. A player like Salah is a plus for any team.”

Onuachu finished last season as the joint top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig with 22 goals, sharing the Golden Boot with Istanbul Basaksehir’s Eldor Shomurodov.

The Super Eagles striker will now hope to forge a productive partnership with Salah as Trabzonspor target further success this season.
