A mother, Fatima Jibril, dragged her ex-husband, Muhammad Mahmud before a Shari’a Court on Monday, sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna, seeking child custody and N50,000 monthly maintenance fee.

The complainant’s lawyer, Abubakar Jibril, told the court that his client’s husband got divorced in January and took their two-year-old child to his mother ever since.

“We want the child to continue to be in the mother’s custody while the father takes full responsibility of school fees, health and general well-being,” the lawyer pleaded.

In his defence, the defendant who spoke through his counsel, Mahmud Ibrahim, said he can only pay N25,000 maintenance fee.

The judge, Malam Mu’awiyya Shehu asked if she would accept that and she answered in affirmative.

The Judge adjourned the case to September 22 for ruling.
