A socio-political group, Peculiar Peoples Progress, has empowered over 200 women in Aiyedire Local Government Area of Osun State.
The group also mobilised support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.
According to the group during the empowerment programme in Ileogbo on Tuesday, Oyebamiji has what it takes to provide good governance and develop the state.
Each of the beneficiaries was given food items and N10,000 in cash.
The coordinator of the group, Mrs Ige Adeyanju, said the gesture was its usual way of reaching out to the people, especially those who genuinely need support.
Adeyanju stated that the event was also an opportunity to encourage the beneficiaries to participate in Saturday’s election and vote for the APC governorship candidate.
“It is just to appreciate our people for their loyalty, because despite the waves here and there, they remain steadfast and they are giving us their full support.
“We empowered over 200 women, and you know women are the builders of the nation. We also want them to support the APC candidate,” she said.
Adeyanju expressed optimism that the entire local government would be delivered to Oyebamiji, saying the women would influence their husbands, children and dependants.
“We are very sure that our votes would be delivered to Oyebamiji. Our leaders have been good to us, and this is the time for the payback,” Adeyanju said.
