Lagos State University (LASU) has produced 494 First Class graduates in the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, disclosed this on Tuesday during the pre-convocation press conference for the 29th and 30th combined graduation of the university for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions, which took place at the Senate Chamber, Babatunde Raji Falola Senate Building, Ojo main campus of the institution.

He said a total of 20,604 graduating students for the two academic sessions would receive their scrolls for the award of First Degrees at the ceremony billed for Monday, August 17, 2026.

During the one-week-long ceremony, which kicked off with the pre-convocation press briefing on Tuesday, no fewer than 238 Doctor of Philosophy; 119 Professional Doctors; 1,508 Academic Masters; 900 Professional Masters; 618 Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) graduating students would also receive their scrolls.

The convocation lecture, titled: “From LASU to the World: Harnessing the Nigerian Diaspora as the 7th Region for National Development,” would be delivered by Hon. Alike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission; while Hon. Tasir Wale Raji, a lawmaker, representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, will chair the lecture, slated for Tuesday, August 18 at Buba Marwa Auditorium, Ojo campus.

The university, the Vice Chancellor said, would confer an Honorary Doctorate Degree (Honoris Causa) on three distinguished personalities in recognition of their exceptional contributions to national development, scholarship, public service and humanity.

They are Mr Akin Kekere-Ekun, Doctor of Business (Entrepreneurship Finance Management); Mrs Harriet-Ann Omobola (Bola) Adesola, Doctor of Business (Corporate Finance and Governance); and Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Doctor of Business (Entrepreneurship Industrial & Human Capital).

According to the Vice-Chancellor, who will be performing her last convocation as Vice-Chancellor of the university, Ayilara Lawal Olawale of the Project Management Department with a CGPA of 4.96 led the pack as Best Graduating Student for the 2024/2025 academic session, while Adebanjo Samuel Oluolamide of the Aerospace Engineering Department also led as the Best Graduating Student with a CGPA of 4.97 for the 2025/2026 academic session.
