THE Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has urged its employees to embrace continuous learning and diligence in order to improve productivity and service delivery.
Adegbite made this known on Tuesday in Abuja during a capacity-building workshop for the commission’s employees, facilitated by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC).
Speaking on the theme, “Moving From Common Knowledge to Common Practice,” he said productivity began with individual attitude to work and must not depend on the presence of a superior.
“The biggest room in life is the room of improvement.
“You must be diligent in your duty. Do not wait for your superior to be around before you do your work.
“Your commitment should come from within, because every responsibility that is entrusted to you matters,” he said.
He admonished them to shun “eye service” and to always do what was expected of them, even when no one was watching.
According to him, the commission’s effectiveness was built on the collective contributions of every member.
The NCPC boss also urged its employees to provide quality service in line with the commission’s slogan, “Service and Satisfaction.”
He noted that professionalism, integrity and excellence must remain at the heart of their daily activities.
“Adequate preparation will lead to high productivity. I urge you all to ensure that lessons learnt from the training translate into everyday practice.
“Let what you have learnt here become part of your everyday practice. We must move from common knowledge to common practice,” he added.
The Executive Secretary expressed appreciation to the NSIWC team for sharing expertise with staff members.
According to him, continuous capacity development is essential to building a competent and efficient workforce.
He maintained that improvement was a continuous journey, and encouraged the workers to regularly assess their performance and make deliberate efforts to grow.
The four-man NSIWC team was led by the Director, Productivity, Prices and Incomes Department, Mr Babatunde Oresanya.
The workshop provided employees the opportunity to reflect on their responsibilities, understand productivity measurement, and explore practical ways of improving efficiency in pilgrimage activities.(NAN)
