THE Association of Nigeria Resident Doctors, Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital (COOUTH) Chapter has commended the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for the payment of the full Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF >100%) and the shortfalls arising from the implementation of the new Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS).
This was contained in a release signed by the President of the Association, Dr. Joy Okwumuo, captioned, ‘TODAY, IT IS RAINING GOOD NEWS FOR DOCTORS AT COOUTH!’
In the expression of the gratitude the Association added, “indeed, today is a remarkable day for doctors at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Awka.
“We sincerely appreciate the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, for his commitment to improving the welfare of doctors and strengthening healthcare delivery in Anambra State.
“Today, we are grateful for the payment of our Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF >100%) and the shortfalls arising from the implementation of the new CONMESS.
“Beyond these payments, we also deeply appreciate the approval and payment of specialist allowance to eligible doctors in our institution, including Medical Officers and all Registrars.
“These are meaningful steps towards improving doctors’ welfare, motivation, and ultimately the quality of care we provide to our patients.”
In extension the group thanked the Commissioner for Health, Anambra State, Dr. Afam Obidike for his efforts to see that things work well for Health Workers in the state and the Chief Medical Director (CMD) COOUTH, Amaku, Dr. Maureen Umeakuewulu for her leadership support and prioritizing the welfare of doctors.
It, said, “Our profound appreciation goes to the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike for his continuous intervention, accessibility, and commitment to the welfare of healthcare workers.
“We equally appreciate our Chief Medical Director, Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, for her leadership, support, and sustained efforts in ensuring that the welfare of doctors remains a priority.
“We also acknowledge the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) for its continued advocacy and support”.
The Association President also extended praises to her colleagues for their resilience and support.
“To my wonderful colleagues in ARD-COOUTH, thank you for your patience, resilience, understanding, and for believing in me and the leadership of our Association. Your trust and support throughout our engagements have been invaluable.
“Today, we celebrate progress. We celebrate the fruits of constructive engagement, patience, advocacy, and responsive leadership.
“Mr. Governor, we say a very big THANK YOU!
“May these positive developments continue to strengthen the morale of our doctors and translate into even better healthcare services for the people of Anambra State.
“Indeed, when good governance meets constructive engagement, everybody wins.
“While there may still be areas requiring further attention, today we choose to acknowledge progress and appreciate everyone whose efforts made this achievement possible.
