The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, on Thursday accused Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of pulling the state backwards since assuming office.
Speaking at the APC’s mega rally in Osogbo, Basiru alleged that Adeleke’s administration is primarily focused on embezzling state funds and has performed poorly in key sectors including education, electricity, and road infrastructure.
“For about three years and a half that the current governor assumed office, it has been setbacks for Osun State. Upon Tinubu’s assumption of office, states have been receiving heavy allocations from the Federal Government but what did Adeleke do with the money? Education and electricity are functioning below par,” Basiru said.
He further claimed that teachers who should have been employed under the current administration remain jobless, and that necessary road projects, including several in Osogbo, have not been constructed. “This government is only concerned on how to embezzle money,” he added.
Basiru expressed confidence in the APC candidate ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, stating that the candidate possesses the knowledge and insight required for effective governance, while questioning the suitability of the candidate fielded by the ruling party.
