The Allied People’s Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has identified poverty reduction, job creation and quality education as major issues that should dominate the 2027 election campaign.

Makinde stated this on Thursday at the party’s national convention in Bauchi, where Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State was inaugurated as the APM national leader.

He said Nigeria could no longer afford political campaigns centred on promises without clear evidence of how proposed policies would improve the lives of citizens.

Makinde said the country must focus on reducing the number of Nigerians living in poverty while creating productive employment opportunities for its predominantly young population.

“We must submit ourselves to an equally demanding question: what exactly will we do differently, and what measurable difference should Nigeria expect to see?” he asked.

He explained that economic policies must translate into improved purchasing power for ordinary Nigerians, particularly women who bear the burden of rising household expenses.

The presidential candidate also said government’s job creation efforts should be assessed by the number of young people who secure meaningful employment rather than through announcements.

He called for an education system capable of preparing Nigerian children for future opportunities, while urging greater attention to agricultural productivity and market access.

Makinde said APM would campaign on measurable outcomes and was willing to work with other opposition parties to present Nigerians with a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.
