The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Wing, on Wednesday, said it had concluded plans to empower 100 youths under the train-the-trainer arrangements.
Ibrahim Bala-Aboki, the National Youth Chairman of the PDP,, while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, said it is collaborating with Destiny Hotshot Synergy International to train 100 youths under the Train-the-Trainers Initiative aimed at empowering youths across the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
“Upon successful completion of the training, the 100 beneficiaries will serve as trainers, each responsible for training 50 youths in each of Nigeria’s 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs)”, he said.
He noted that the programme was part of the party’s efforts at creating a sustainable multiplier effect and expanding access to practical skills development nationwide.
The training is focusing on various vocational and entrepreneurial skills, including: Photography, Shoe Making, Duvet Making, Hair Cream Production, Soap Making, Shampoo Production, Air Freshener Production, Aftershave Production, and other income-generating skills.
He noted that the “initiative is designed to promote youth empowerment, self-reliance, entrepreneurship, job creation, and sustainable livelihoods across the country.
“This is the time for Action, not docility; Time for valued alacrity, not void alarms; Time for greater momentum, not murmurs. We must move from intention to action, from expectation to participation, and from participation to measurable impact.”
Bala-Aboki, while noting that the future of the People’s Democratic Party and, indeed, the future of Nigerian democracy depends significantly on how effectively the party engage, empower and prepare young people, reaffirmed his commitment to building a youth structure that is inclusive, vibrant, disciplined, innovative and grassroots-driven.
“Together, we will create greater opportunities for young people, strengthen our party structures and deepen youth participation in democratic governance”, he noted.

“This is an attitude that has become one of the significant challenges confronting Nigeria’s democratic development. Many eligible citizens, particularly young Nigerians, register to vote but do not always complete the electoral process by collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) or turning out to vote on Election Day”, he submitted.
He noted that such silence weakens democratic institutions, diminishes citizens’ influence over governance, and creates room for poor leadership to persist. But there is a fundamental truth we must recognise: Nigeria’s youth are not merely the leaders of tomorrow; they are the stakeholders and power brokers of today.
“With their numerical strength, energy, creativity, digital influence, and capacity to mobilise, young Nigerians have the potential to transform the nation’s electoral landscape”, added.
He, however, noted that their active and informed participation “can significantly reduce voter apathy and strengthen the foundations of our democracy.”
