Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has accused music executive Dapper Music of withholding royalties from 46 of his songs and alleged that his music catalogue was sold without proper accounting.

The singer made the allegations on X while speaking about his ongoing dispute with Dapper over royalty payments and arrangements concerning his music catalogue.

Shallipopi claimed that income from 46 songs was being withheld, including earnings from his hit song, “E Don Cast”.

Shallipopi alleges withheld royalties

The singer questioned how the royalties generated from his songs were being handled, alleging that Dapper had failed to remit money owed to him.

“Dapper nor forget na my laho money Dey with me o, u Dey hold me 46 songs royalty income including my ‘E don cast’ money,” Shallipopi wrote.

The allegation comes amid an ongoing dispute between the singer and the music executive over financial arrangements surrounding Shallipopi’s music.

The singer did not provide details of the total amount of royalties he believes are being withheld.

Singer alleges catalogue was sold

Shallipopi further alleged that Dapper took the catalogues of several artistes to Virgin Music and collected money from the transactions without adequately accounting for the proceeds.

He specifically alleged that his own music catalogue had been sold and warned that he was prepared to report the matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“Dapper you Dey hold me money o, and u sell my catalog now u Dey act confuse, I go EFCC office i go write statement against u,” he said.

The allegations remain claims by the singer, and no independent evidence establishing the accusations was provided in his posts.

Shallipopi accuses executive of misleading EFCC

The singer also accused Dapper of allegedly making false statements to the EFCC over the dispute.

Shallipopi claimed that he was not the only artiste affected by the alleged dealings and suggested that other artistes could also have concerns about their financial arrangements.

“And u go another EFCC office Dey lie for them, you forget say nor be only me u scam lol,” Shallipopi wrote.

The allegations, if formally presented to the anti-graft agency, could lead to scrutiny of the financial and contractual arrangements involving the parties.

Singer accuses Dapper of manipulation

Shallipopi also accused the music executive of manipulating artistes and made further allegations about his conduct within the entertainment industry.

“Jude nor sabi work reach u and u know broski u be master manipulator, u Dey put juju for mouth Dey talk to trenches boys u know what you are senior man, you too pour us spit,” he wrote.

He added that he believed his intervention had prevented the situation from becoming worse.

“Dapper if to say I nor guide na so u for end men, men mount sha,” Shallipopi said.

The latest allegations add to the dispute between the singer and Dapper Music, with the ownership, management and financial returns from music catalogues at the centre of the disagreement.

As of the time of filing this report, Dapper Music had not publicly responded to the latest allegations contained in Shallipopi’s posts.
