
The Chairman of the Rivers State Teqball Association (RIVTEQ), Mr Halim Adebola Zaccah, has been inducted as a member of the Rivers State Football Referees’ Council (RSFRC).
Zaccah was formally inducted on Friday, July 31, during the council’s Annual Seminar and Fitness Test held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
The induction was conducted by FIFA/CAF Physical Fitness Technical Instructor, Engr. Emmanuel Imiere, who represented the council’s technical arm at the event.
Chairman of the RSFRC, Comrade Dima Dennis Charles, said Zaccah’s induction was in recognition of his consistent contributions to the development and activities of the council.
Charles commended Zaccah for his commitment to the growth of football refereeing and his support for the council’s programmes in the state.
The event also featured a fitness test for referees as part of efforts to assess their physical preparedness for officiating duties.
After the fitness exercise, prominent referee instructors delivered lectures on recent amendments to the Laws of the Game as approved by FIFA.
Among the instructors were the Acting President of the Nigeria Football Referees’ Association (NFRA), Sir Kelechi Mejuobi, represented by the association’s Publicity Secretary, Mr Chukwudi Ejimofor.
Others included Coach Ere Dokubo and Engr. Imiere, who provided technical guidance and updates on the application of the amended laws.
The seminar was aimed at enhancing the knowledge, fitness and professional competence of referees in Rivers State.
Zaccah’s induction further strengthens the collaboration between stakeholders in football and other emerging sports in the state.
The RIVTEQ chairman has been actively involved in promoting teqball and supporting sports development initiatives in Rivers State.
