The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Najeem Salaam, has raised concerns over the alleged non-recognition of his party agents in several areas during Saturday’s governorship election.

Salaam, who arrived at his polling unit to vote at about 10:39 a.m., said he received reports that some ADC agents were not being recognised despite the party having uploaded their names ahead of the election.

He said the alleged exclusion affected the party’s agents in 10 local government areas, adding that he had reported the matter to relevant authorities who were looking into the situation.

Salaam denies vote-buying allegations

The ADC candidate also denied allegations of vote buying by the party, insisting that the campaign was based on presenting its programmes to voters and allowing them to make their choice freely.

“We converse with the people, we let them know our programmes, and that is exactly what we do. Vote buying is out of it. I have never in my life bought votes,” Salaam said.

He stressed that voters should be allowed to exercise their franchise without interference.

“People will decide whom they want, and I think it should be very fair enough for them to have the right to choose whom they prefer as a candidate or as the governor of the state,” he added.

ADC candidate expresses confidence in victory

Salaam, who voted at Ward 4, expressed confidence that he would emerge victorious at the end of the election.

He attributed his optimism to his faith in God and the support he believes the ADC has received from voters across the state.

The Osun governorship election is being contested by candidates from several political parties, with voters expected to determine who will lead the state for the next four years.
