Bauchi State as the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) begins the distribution of election materials to the 20 Local Government Areas.

Accordingly, fifteen political parties are expected to participate in Monday’s local government elections in the State.

The Secretary of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in the state, Khalid Arewa, disclosed this while speaking during the distribution of the materials at BASIEC headquarters in Bauchi.

According to him, 15 of the 22 registered political parties in the state had purchased nomination forms for the elections.

Arewa expressed confidence in the preparations, saying the ongoing distribution of materials was an indication that the electoral process was progressing as scheduled.

Earlier, BASIEC Chairperson, Hajiya Jummai Abubakar, said the commission had concluded its logistical arrangements for the polls.

She said vehicles had been deployed to convey ballot papers, result sheets, ballot boxes and other electoral equipment to the 20 LGAs under security escort.

The BASIEC chairperson appealed to eligible voters to come out and vote for candidates of their choice, assuring them of a peaceful electoral environment.

She said voting would take place between 8:00am and 3:00pm.
Hajiya Jummai also appealed to political parties and other stakeholders to support efforts to ensure a credible and peaceful election.
