Man City manager Enzo Maresca has highlighted the importance of Rodri to Manchester City, insisting that the Spanish midfielder is a player any team in the world would miss.
Speaking about City’s situation, Maresca pointed to Rodri’s extraordinary individual achievements, saying: “Well… Rodri is a player that just won the World Cup, Ballon d’Or — a top player that all teams would need“ as reported by Fabrizio Romano on X on Sunday.
However, Maresca was keen to stress that City’s performances should not simply be attributed to the absence of their midfield superstar.
“It’s not about if we miss Rodri or not,” he said.
Rodri has established himself as one of the most influential midfielders in world football, and his absence naturally leaves a significant gap in City’s squad. Maresca’s comments, though, suggest that the focus should remain on the team as a whole rather than treating Rodri’s absence as the only explanation for City’s struggles.
According to the transfer expert, Maresca confirms signings are coming at Man City: “We knew already before the game the things we need to do”.
“We know what we have to do. We will be busy.”
