The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election in the August 15, 2026, governorship election, describing the outcome as a victory for the will of the people.
The party, in a statement issued on Sunday by its National Chairman, Dr Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, said Adeleke’s victory had brightened Nigeria’s democratic landscape by demonstrating the power of citizens to determine their leaders through the ballot.
APM also commended the people of Osun State for defying what it described as heightened political tension ahead of the election and voting for their preferred candidate.
The party said voters also demonstrated their commitment to democracy by protecting their votes, describing the development as “the beauty of democracy.”

“As a major stakeholder in the democratic process, APM has been in the vanguard of the enthronement of genuine democracy in Nigeria, where every vote is counted and counts in the overall result, and the clear mandate of the people is respected by all stakeholders, as happened in the Osun governorship election,” Dantalle said.
The party acknowledged the challenges surrounding the election, particularly what it described as unprecedented political violence, saying the development tested Nigerians’ resolve and commitment to democratic governance.
According to APM, the successful conclusion of the election demonstrated the capacity of citizens to resist forces seeking to influence or truncate the electoral process.
It maintained that the national interest should take precedence over partisan political considerations, urging political actors and other stakeholders to uphold democratic values and respect the electorate’s mandate.
The party said the outcome of the Osun election should encourage Nigerians to continue working towards a political system in which electoral choices are respected and every legitimate vote contributes to the final result.
APM reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy and promote a political system founded on fairness, stability and respect for the rule of law.
“Together, we will build a strong, united, stable, equitable and just democratic nation,” the party said.
