DERA - Monday, August 17, 2026

Arise Television anchor, Rufai Oseni, has cautioned Nigerians against assuming that the outcome of the 2026 Osun State governorship election will be replicated in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on The Morning Show on Monday, Oseni stressed that while Osun voters stood firm, the dynamics of the nationwide polls will be far more complex.

He warned that the “federal might” deployed in Osun could be intensified threefold in 2027.“Last week, when I was telling the people the challenges they would face, it was not to scare them. I believe in telling the truth so they know how to react to dangers,” Oseni said. “If you think because Osun people stood up, it will be easy in 2027, you are delusional. 2027 is going to be different. They will go back to the drawing board and try to perfect it.”

Oseni emphasized that his warnings were about risk assessment, urging Nigerians to prepare for the realities of the next election cycle rather than relying on the Osun precedent.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party winner of the Osun governorship election on Sunday.
