A 29-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday night in Chicago Lawn neighborhood after three men approached him during a quarrel and opened fire, according to Chicago Police and Cook County Medical Examiner records.

What Happened

At approximately 10:03 p.m. Sunday August 16, 2026 the victim was standing outside in the 6100 block of South Campbell Avenue in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood when three men approached him and got into a quarrel, according to Chicago Police.

The argument turned physical.

One of the three men pulled a gun and shot the victim multiple times throughout his body.

The victim was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead.

Cook County Medical Examiner records confirm his death at 11:14 p.m.

No Arrests

No one was in custody as of early Monday morning. Wentworth Area detectives are investigating the shooting.

The victim’s identity has not yet been publicly released by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
