Agbebaku stepped down on Monday amid reported moves by some lawmakers to impeach him.
His media aide, Ivy Adodo-Ebojele, confirmed the resignation in a Facebook post.
She said details surrounding the former Speaker’s exit would be disclosed later.
Agbebaku had served as Speaker of the eighth Edo State House of Assembly since June 2023.
Lawmakers are expected to elect a new Speaker to lead the Assembly.
