Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has emerged as the Premier League’s leading pre-season scorer, giving the new campaign a glimpse of his attacking threat ahead of Friday’s kick-off.
EPL website on Monday noted that the Brazilian scored seven goals during Chelsea’s preparations, including a remarkable nine-minute hat-trick against Western Sydney Wanderers and braces against AC Milan and Real Sociedad.
Aston Villa teenager Brian Madjo is next with five goals.
The 17-year-old also scored against Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup, but missed Villa’s final friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach amid reports of an injury.
Nottingham Forest’s Igor Jesus and Crystal Palace midfielder Matheus Franca have four goals each.
Jesus scored all four in July and did not feature against Stade Brestois 29, while Franca scored three against Swindon Town.
With the Premier League season beginning on Friday, August 21, the pre-season scoring charts offer an early indication of the players arriving in form.

Manchester City’s Antoine Semenyo follows with five assists from four matches, while Aston Villa’s Emiliano Buendia has four.
