The Taraba state capital and other major towns are in high spirits as Governor Agbu Kefas receives Blueprint Newspaper’s Inclusive Development and Social Integration Award, Tuesday, for service delivery.
The jubilation, which started from Government House roundabout in Jalingo has both youth, civil servants, market women, adults and politicians shouting: “AK27! AK27! AK27.”
They rejoiced that the governor has truly saved the state’s educational system, security, agriculture, health among others from deterioration .
Some of them who spoke to Blueprint in Jalingo expressed happiness that Governor Kefa’s footprint in education, 70 thousand naira payment of minimum wage to workers, payment of outstanding gratuities to retirees, constant payment of pension, adequate security among others, has placed Taraba on a high premium.
A politician from Kunini Ward in Lau, Peter Kunilau, said since Kefas became the governor of the state, his administration has done excellently well for people of the state irrespective of tribal and religious affiliation.
He added that Governor Kefas remains the only governor within the North east region currently paying N70, 000 minimum wage to civil servants.
He noted that outside the payment of outstanding gratuities, pension and others, pupils and students of tertiary institutions across the state enjoyed free education.
Also, a civil servant, Paul Biyaku applauded the performance of Governor Kefas and said his administration since assumption of office has opened doors for massive recruitment of Tarabans into the state civil service.
