The Nigeria Police Force, through INTERPOL Nigeria, has arrested a Chadian woman, Mahadijiria Abdoulaye, who was wanted by authorities in Chad in connection with an alleged murder case.

Abdoulaye was arrested on 5 August 2026 at Railway Quarters in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, following the sharing of intelligence and a joint operation involving Nigerian and Chadian law enforcement authorities.

According to Chadian authorities, the victim, identified as Nazik Mahamat Saleh, was allegedly tortured to death on 3 May 2026.

Following investigations into the incident, the N’Djamena Court of Appeal on 22 June 2026 issued arrest warrants for Abdoulaye and another suspect, Fatime Senoussi Mouktar.

The Nigeria Police Force said that after her arrest, Abdoulaye was repatriated to N’Djamena, Chad, through Lomé, Togo, to face the legal process.

The operation was carried out with the assistance of INTERPOL Nigeria and INTERPOL Chad as part of cross-border cooperation to track and apprehend persons wanted for serious crimes.

The police said the development demonstrated that suspects could not evade justice simply by crossing international borders.

However, the authorities stressed that Abdoulaye remains innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.
