The Hope Alive Initiative (HAI), an organisation committed to promoting good governance and civic engagement, has unveiled the first phase of a nationwide grassroots campaign in support of the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The campaign, which coincides with the commencement of the 2027 election season, will combine street-level mobilisation with traditional and digital media strategies, including the deployment of human mascots, a city-wide SMS campaign, a weekly Pidgin-language radio programme, and an original campaign jingle.

In a statement signed by its Director of Press and Communications, Ernest Omoarelojie, the organisation said its support for President Tinubu was based on what it described as the administration’s bold reforms and initiatives aimed at laying the foundation for Nigeria’s long-term economic growth and institutional development.

According to HAI, key achievements of the Tinubu administration include reforms in the petroleum sector that have helped end persistent fuel shortages and encouraged the growth of private refineries, improved stability in the foreign exchange market, increased government revenue and foreign reserves, efforts to strengthen local government autonomy, police and internal security reforms, the implementation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), tax reforms, and extensive road infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory and other parts of the country.

“While these reforms have come with short-term challenges, we believe they are difficult but necessary steps towards a more sustainable, prosperous and better-governed Nigeria,” the organisation stated.

HAI disclosed that the opening phase of the campaign would feature four major initiatives designed to take its message directly to citizens and broaden public engagement across different demographics.

As part of its opening-day activation scheduled for August 19, the group will deploy about 40 colourfully dressed human mascots at strategic high-traffic locations across Abuja to create public awareness and visibility for the campaign.

The organisation said the street-level activation would complement its wider media and grassroots mobilisation efforts.

HAI also announced the commencement of a city-wide SMS mobilisation campaign aimed at reaching residents across the Federal Capital Territory. The initiative, it said, would serve as the foundation of a sustained digital engagement programme leading up to the 2027 general elections.

Another key component of the campaign is a weekly Pidgin-language radio programme titled “Wetin Tinubu Don Do Sef,” which will explain government policies, programmes and projects in simple and accessible language to a broad audience.

The group noted that the August 19 activation marks the beginning of an intensive grassroots campaign intended to establish a strong public presence and sustain citizen engagement throughout the 2027 electoral cycle.

HAI expressed confidence that its advocacy efforts would help deepen public understanding of the administration’s policies and achievements while encouraging greater civic participation ahead of the presidential election.
