The Sokoto State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has reaffirmed its commitment to the continuous development of youth and sports across the state.
This is as the government said the goal is to create a conducive environment and opportunities for young people to thrive and play a significant role in the development of the state.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Balarabe Kadadi, made this known during a working visit to key project sites.
He was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Sidi Almustapha Yahaya, and senior directors of the ministry.
During the visit, the team inspected the new stadium under construction in Kasarawa, the Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko Horse Race project in Durbawa, and the Giginya Memorial Stadium in Sokoto metropolis.
The Commissioner commended the state government for the various projects aimed at developing sports and empowering young people.
He noted that such initiatives would significantly contribute to the growth of sports, the discovery of young talents, and the provision of opportunities for youths to develop and utilise their abilities for personal and societal advancement.
Kadadi also expressed appreciation to the Sokoto State Government for its sustained attention and support for youth and sports development.
He assured that the ministry would continue to work diligently to achieve the objectives of the administration.
Speaking during the visit, the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Sidi Almustapha Yahaya, reiterated that the state government, under Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, would continue to provide full support for youth and sports development across the state.
Yahaya described Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto as a fair-minded and visionary leader, stressing that the administration is committed to creating an enabling environment and providing the necessary infrastructure to enable young people to develop their skills in various sporting disciplines and other areas of youth development.
He added that investing in youth and sports development remains one of the most effective ways of creating opportunities for young people, fostering unity, and contributing to the building of a strong and progressive society.
As part of the working visit, the Commissioner, Permanent Secretary, and senior officials also toured various sections and facilities of the Sokoto State Ministry of Youth and Sports to assess ongoing activities and gain firsthand insight into developments in youth and sports.
The Sokoto State Government once again reaffirmed that it would continue to prioritise youth and sports development through policies and projects aimed at securing a brighter future for the state’s young people and promoting the overall development of Sokoto State.
A statement issued by Aminu Sani, PRO, Ministry for Youth and Sports Development, Sokoto State, further stated that the working visit was attended by all directors of the Sokoto State Ministry of Youth and Sports.
