Barrister PGU Madu has been honoured with the Grand Patron Award by Ezuruezu Mbaise during the Iri-Ji Mbaise 2026 Cultural Festival held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Okeovuru Community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.
The prestigious award was presented to Madu by the leadership of Ezuruezu Mbaise, led by its President, Surveyor Joe Anosike, in recognition of his contributions to the development of Mbaise Nation and his longstanding support for the people, particularly youths and women.
Madu, a prominent figure in Mbaise politics and the political apex leader of Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, is known for his decades-long involvement in grassroots politics and for supporting candidates who have gone on to win elections.
In appreciation of the honour, Madu donated N5 million in cash, describing the gesture as a demonstration of his commitment to the cultural institution and people of Mbaise.
The Iri-Ji Mbaise festival, which celebrates the yam harvest and the rich cultural heritage of the Mbaise people, brought together traditional rulers, political leaders, community stakeholders and residents to celebrate the community’s heritage and achievements.
Beyond politics, Barrister Madu is a distinguished legal practitioner and the founder of Abdullahi Madu & Co., where he specialises in several areas of law, including banking law, oil and gas, insolvency, public utilities, insurance, arbitration, maritime and admiralty law, acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate buy-outs.
He is also an Advisory Board Member of the Institute of Transnational Arbitration at the Center for American and International Law in Dallas, Texas, United States, and an internationally certified negotiator from Bond University, Australia.
Madu is a Distinguished Member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), a Faculty Member and Tutor of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), Nigeria Branch, and a Fellow and Faculty Member of the Institute of Construction Industry Arbitrators (FICIArb).
He also serves as a Delegate Member of the National Committee to the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR in Paris for the term running from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2027.
Described by supporters as a philanthropist committed to community development, Madu has reportedly impacted the lives of numerous youths and women across Mbaise through various forms of support and empowerment.
His recognition at the Iri-Ji Mbaise 2026 festival further underscored his influence in the cultural, political, professional and humanitarian life of the Mbaise community.
