The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled its primary elections for Saturday, August 22, 2026, to select candidates for four restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, as well as legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta, and Kano.
The timetable, signed by APC National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu, followed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s decision to restore four previously suppressed constituencies: Abraka, Isoko North II, and Ughelli South II in Delta, and Yagba West II in Kogi.
For bye-elections, the affected constituencies include Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe, Disina and Sakwa in Bauchi, Udu in Delta, and Dawakin Kudu in Kano.
According to the schedule:Sale of forms: August 18–20Submission deadline: August 20Screening and appeals: August 21Primaries: August 22Election appeals: August 24The party fixed fees at ₦6m for House of Assembly aspirants (₦1m expression of interest, ₦5m nomination) and ₦10m for House of Representatives aspirants (₦1m expression of interest, ₦9m nomination).
Female, youth, and physically challenged aspirants will pay only the expression of interest fee plus 50% of the nomination fee.
The restoration of the suppressed constituencies followed court judgments, ending years in which residents lacked direct representation in their State Houses of Assembly.
The bye-election in Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency was triggered by the death of lawmaker Tongo Yaya.
This development underscores APC’s preparations for filling legislative vacancies and ensuring representation across affected constituencies.
