Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has revealed that he is suffering from a neurological disorder after experiencing a second on-field collapse within three days.

The 23-year-old Germany international fell to the ground shortly after coming on as a substitute during Bayern’s pre-season friendly against Heidenheim on Tuesday.

Musiala appeared dazed and required medical attention before being helped from the pitch. The incident came just days after he collapsed during Bayern’s victory over RB Leipzig on Saturday.

The midfielder later addressed the situation on social media, revealing that he had been diagnosed with brief episodes of absence that can cause temporary but treatable seizures.

“I have been diagnosed with brief, temporary episodes of absence that are easily treatable and are caused by a neurological dysfunction,” Musiala said.

“These can lead to the moments that have occurred recently, such as against Leipzig and now in Heidenheim.

“I know that they may seem scary at first glance – but for me, they are currently simply part of my everyday life.”

Musiala thanked supporters for their messages and said he was receiving appropriate medical treatment.
“I am receiving the best possible medical care in this regard, and I am very optimistic,” he added.

Bayern aware of Musiala’s condition

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said after Tuesday’s match that the club was aware of Musiala’s condition and that the player would address the situation publicly.

“Jamal will speak about this in the near future. We knew about it, and we are aware of the situation,” Eberl said.

“Jamal will speak out.”

Musiala’s first collapse occurred during Bayern’s win over Leipzig on Saturday in hot conditions, with temperatures in Munich reportedly exceeding 30°C.

The latest incident has raised further concern over the midfielder’s fitness as Bayern prepare for the new season.

Musiala returns after injury setback

Musiala missed the first six months of last season after suffering a serious ankle injury at the FIFA Club World Cup.

He returned during the second half of the campaign and subsequently represented Germany at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The attacking midfielder remains one of Bayern’s key players, but his latest health concerns are expected to prompt further medical assessment as the club prioritises his wellbeing.
