The Allied People’s Movement (APM) on Wednesday expressed confidence that it would win the 2027 presidential election.
The National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubakar, in an interview in Abuja, said APM would run an inclusive, people-driven campaign, which he stated is one of the strategies the party would use to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the election.
According to him, given the popularity of its presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde, who he said parades the best governance credentials, APM is well positioned to win the next year’s presidential election and save Nigeria from the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abubakar disclosed that the APM has been engaged in nationwide consultations and has built formidable alliances with other opposition parties to use the party’s platform to take over power from the APC in the January 2027 presidential election.
He said the APM has set up a “very strong and highly efficient campaign machinery,” which would be unveiled to the public soon.
The spokesman said the party is ready for the 2027 presidential campaign, adding, “We have a very popular presidential candidate in Governor Seyi Makinde, and we have worked out strategies to ensure that not only do we win the ballot but also that our winning votes are firmly protected.
“We are working hard and will leave no stone unturned in our efforts in mobilising Nigerians for this election.
“We have assembled very credible hands to manage our campaign. We will unveil our campaign machinery to the public soon.
“Nigerians are eager to oust the APC from power due to President Tinubu’s abysmal failure in office.
“Most Nigerians have expressed their readiness to vote in Seyi Makinde as the credible alternative to President Tinubu.”
Abubakar stated that last Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State has shown the power of the people in an election, and expressed the confidence that such could be replicated in the January 2027 presidential election when “Nigerians will speak with one voice for Seyi Makinde.”
He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure that the 2027 elections are free, fair, credible, and that only the will of the people as expressed at the ballot would prevail.
