The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal Directorate, has arraigned three persons before the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan over alleged fraud involving more than N30 million in connection with purported Canadian visa and travel arrangements.
The defendants are Emmanuel Serah Motunrayo, Awotunde Olugbenga and Idowu Olugbemi Sunday.
Motunrayo and Olugbenga were arraigned on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, before Justice Olusola Adetujoye on a 47-count charge bordering on forgery, uttering of documents and obtaining money by false pretence.

The charges involve an alleged N23,404,600 fraud involving two individuals, Oluwatobi Adeoluwa Iyanda and Oyewale Tunji Bello.
According to the EFCC, the defendants allegedly presented themselves as travel and immigration agents based in Abuja and claimed they could facilitate Canadian visas, flight tickets and other travel arrangements for their victims.
The commission alleged that Motunrayo and Olugbenga obtained N12,368,100 from Iyanda and N11,036,500 from Bello after making representations about their ability to secure Canadian visas and facilitate their travel abroad.
The EFCC further alleged that the defendants later reneged on their promises and allegedly produced forged Canadian visa documents purportedly issued by the Government of Canada.
One of the charges alleged that the defendants obtained N527,000 from Iyanda by falsely representing that they would secure a valid Canadian visa and flight ticket for him.
Another count accused them of forging a Canadian visa dated June 20, 2025, bearing a travel document number and purportedly issued in the name of Iyanda.
They were also accused of allegedly uttering another forged Canadian visa purportedly issued in the name of Bello, with the intention that it would be acted upon as a genuine document.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Following their pleas, EFCC counsel, Mohammed Abideen, asked the court to adjourn the matter for trial and remand the defendants in a correctional centre.
Defence counsel, Jimoh Wasiu, informed the court that bail applications had been filed and urged the court to grant the defendants bail pending the determination of the case.
Justice Adetujoye adjourned the matter until August 26, 2026, for hearing of the bail applications and ordered that the defendants be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre.
In a separate case, the EFCC also arraigned Idowu Olugbemi Sunday before Justice Adetujoye on August 17, 2026, over an alleged N6.65 million Canadian visa fraud.
Olugbemi is accused of defrauding Okanlawon Tunji Ajao of N6,650,000 under the guise of securing Canadian visas for him and his family.
