Vice presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed sadness over a boat mishap in Gorau community, Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State, which reportedly claimed 41 lives.
Kwankwaso expressed his condolences in a statement shared on social media following the tragic incident.
He described the loss of 41 lives in a single incident as “profoundly painful and heartbreaking,” while extending his thoughts and prayers to the families and communities affected by the tragedy.

Also, he commended rescuers and other individuals involved in the emergency response for their efforts to save lives and assist victims of the boat accident.
Kwankwaso urged relevant authorities to promptly investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and take necessary steps to strengthen safety measures on Nigeria’s waterways.
According to him, a thorough investigation is necessary to identify the factors responsible for the boat mishap and prevent a recurrence of similar tragedies.
He extended his sympathy to the people and government of Sokoto State, while praying for the peaceful repose of those who lost their lives in the incident.
Kwankwaso said authorities must use the incident as an opportunity to improve safety standards and prevent further loss of lives on the country’s waterways.
