The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Media, Ossai Ovie Success, has offered ₦500,000 cash support and an ambassadorial role to the young woman who recently became the subject of widespread attention following an incident involving the outgoing Chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA), Tony Elumelu and the graduate trainee.

Ossai made the offer in a social media post, saying he was concerned about the backlash the young woman had received online and wanted to turn the situation into an opportunity for her.

According to him, the package includes ₦500,000 cash support and a complimentary VIP trip to the fourth edition of the Delta Social Media Summit scheduled to hold on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in Asaba, Delta State.

He listed the proposed support package as flight tickets to Asaba, five-star hotel accommodation, a guided tour of developmental projects in Delta State and VIP access to the social media summit.

Ossai also offered the young woman a brand ambassador role for the Delta Social Media Summit, which he described as an annual platform.

Explaining the reason behind the gesture, the Delta governor’s aide acknowledged the intensity of public criticism that often accompanies viral incidents on social media.

“I know the internet can be harsh. Depression is real and words cut deep. She made a mistake but we don’t need to torment her daily, she needs our support,” Ossai said.

He also thanked UBA Chairman Tony Elumelu for what he described as pointing out the needed correction that could further strengthen respect in society.

Ossai appealed to members of the public who know the young woman to encourage her to contact him directly.

“To the public. If you’re reading this or anyone knows her, please ask her to DM me,” he said.

He added that he intended to provide her with an opportunity to share her story and assured her that she would have a positive experience.

“I will give her a good time and a platform to tell her story. Let’s turn this pain into purpose. She won’t be disappointed,” Ossai added.

The staff member had earlier attracted attention on social media after a video from UBA’s Graduate Management Accelerated Programme graduation ceremony showed her addressing the Chairman, Tony Elumelu as “Tony” while asking a question.

Elumelu, who initially appeared to take the remark lightly, subsequently told her that he preferred to be addressed as “Mr Elumelu” or “TOE.”

“Okay. No, you won’t call me Tony. You’ll call me Mr Elumelu or TOE. You won’t call me Tony, or Chairman. I don’t subscribe to that kind of… Oyinbo life, okay?” Elumelu said.

The woman took to the correction and addressed him as “Mr Elumelu” before continuing with her question.

The incident, which was captured on video and widely shared on social media, generated mixed reactions, with some Nigerians supporting Elumelu’s position while others noted that that the woman could have been following the first-name culture common in some corporate workplaces.
