The Osun State Government has called for post-election reconciliation among political actors and stakeholders, urging them to put the tensions of the electoral period behind them and work towards peace and stability in the state.
Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, made the call in a statement issued on Sunday, saying Osun should now enter a period of healing and rebuilding after the governorship election.
The government expressed concern over immediate post-election disruptions in some parts of the state. It urged residents to allow the restoration of peaceful coexistence and rule-based interactions across all sectors of society.
Alimi also called on political actors to speak and act peacefully, stressing that the state must not relapse into the pre-election era of killings and violence.

“The Osun election has been won and lost. Mr President and Mr Governor had engaged on a peaceful way forward. Any push towards violence represents an affront on the Presidency and the Nigerian Constitution,” he said.
The government further raised concern over reports of plans by some stakeholders to trigger fresh crises across local government councils and motor parks, warning that any such move should be stopped immediately in the interest of public peace.
It said Osun needed peace for development rather than violence in politics, while calling on all stakeholders to support efforts towards reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
The government urged security agencies to enforce the rule of law, including ensuring the release of political detainees and ending what it described as perceived partisan policing, particularly in the management of local governments and motor parks.
