Funke Akindele shares a joyful moment in a silver scoop-neck metallic dress styled with molten-gold jewellery.

Silver was at the front, centre, back and everywhere in between as Funke Akindele stepped into her 49th birthday with a gorgeous new set of portraits. The Nollywood star is celebrating her birthday today, 24 August, and for the occasion, she chose a floor-length silver gown that gave the entire shoot a cool, sculptural feel.

Photographed by Aham Ibeleme and styled by Zack Styling, the birthday look is all about texture, metallic details and statement gold jewellery. The fitted gown features a scooped neckline and slender shoulder straps, while its hammered texture creates geometric patterns across the bodice and straight-cut skirt.

And Funke did not stop at the dress. She paired it with sculptural hammered-gold drop earrings featuring dark red stones, a chunky gold cuff and a matching organic-shaped ring. Her hair was styled in a voluminous half-up, half-down look, with soft waves falling down her back, while her makeup stayed in warm, bronzed tones with defined brows, smoky earth-toned eyeshadow, soft blush and a glossy nude lip.

The whole birthday shoot was photographed against a minimalist studio setting, with sheer white fabrics, neutral grey tones, stylised white branches and a vintage wooden trunk adding to the visual story.

But beyond the beautiful portraits, Funke’s birthday post was really about gratitude and looking ahead. Sharing her deep appreciation for another milestone year, Funke reflected on her growth, noting:

Today is my birthday. My heart is full of gratitude to God for all He has done, all He is doing, and all that is still to come. Through every season, every lesson, every win, every mistake and every challenge, God has remained my strength and my shield. Even in moments when I have fallen short, He has given me the grace to rise, learn, keep going and become better. Today, my prayer is simple. That God blesses me with good health, long life, peace and the grace to keep walking in purpose. I pray that my life continues to mean something beyond me. That I can touch more lives, open more doors, nurture more talents, raise more stars and give others the opportunity to become everything God has called them to be. May I never stop giving back. May I never stop growing. May my life remain a testimony, and may the way I live inspire others to believe, to dream and to keep going. Thank You, Lord. Happy birthday to me.

There is also another big chapter on the horizon. Funke is set to return to cinemas later this year with The Four: No One Fights Alone, her upcoming feature film, which is scheduled for a global cinema release on 11 December 2026. The film, produced by Funke Akindele Network, explores friendship, motherhood, resilience and the bonds between women.
