Nigeria's Terem Moffi joins Hamburg

Nigerian striker Terem Moffi has joined Bundesliga club Hamburg on a permanent transfer from French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.

The 27-year-old Nigeria international completed the move on Monday, bringing his time at the French club to an end as he begins a new chapter in German football.

Moffi joins Hamburg with significant experience across European football, having previously played in six different countries during his professional career.

The striker has also established an impressive scoring record, registering 88 goals and 13 assists in 228 competitive appearances.

Hamburg have expressed confidence in Moffi’s ability to make an immediate impact, with sporting director Claus Costa highlighting the qualities that made the club keen to secure his signature.

“We are delighted to have secured the signing of Terem. Terem is a striker who is difficult to contain due to his physicality, determination, and playing style,” Costa said on the club’s official website.

Costa backs Moffi to excel

The Hamburg sporting director believes Moffi’s physicality and determination will make him a difficult player for Bundesliga defenders to handle.

The club will be hoping the Nigerian can reproduce his previous goal-scoring form in Germany and become an important part of its attacking setup.

Moffi’s experience is expected to be particularly valuable as he adapts to a new league and a different style of football.

Strong record for Nigeria

Moffi also brings international experience to Hamburg, having represented Nigeria on 23 occasions.

The forward has scored six goals and provided two assists for the Super Eagles during his international career.

His experience with the Nigerian national team, alongside his time in European football, gives Hamburg an experienced attacking option as the club prepares for the Bundesliga campaign.

The permanent transfer represents another major step in Moffi’s career, with the Nigerian now set to continue his development in Germany.

Hamburg will be hoping the forward’s goals, physical presence and determination can help the club achieve its targets in the Bundesliga.
