Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has mourned the death of veteran Yoruba actor, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, describing his passing as a painful and irreplaceable loss to his family, Ogun State and the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Abiodun, in a condolence message on Monday, described Ogogo as an illustrious son of Ogun State and a cultural icon whose remarkable career brought joy to millions of Nigerians and contributed immensely to the growth of the Nigerian film industry.

The governor said the death of the veteran actor was particularly painful to the people of Ilaro and Yewaland, where Ogogo was widely regarded as one of the prominent sons who contributed to the cultural identity and heritage of the community.

According to Abiodun, Ogogo’s contributions went beyond acting, as the veteran entertainer played a significant role in promoting Yoruba culture, values and traditions through his extensive career in the Nigerian film industry.

“Ogogo was a cultural icon whose remarkable career brought joy to millions and contributed immensely to the growth of our film industry and the promotion of Yoruba culture and values,” the governor said.

Abiodun noted that the legacy of the late actor would continue to live on, particularly through his body of work and the impact he made on the entertainment industry and the lives of those who watched and appreciated his performances.

The governor, on behalf of his family, the Ogun State Government and the people of the state, commiserated with Ogogo’s family, the people of Ilaro and Yewaland, as well as his colleagues and associates in the entertainment industry.

He prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and give his family, friends, colleagues and other mourners the fortitude to bear the painful loss.

Ogogo was a veteran Yoruba actor whose career spanned several decades.
