African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidentianl candidate, Atiku Abubakar has mourned the death of celebrated Nollywood actor, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, describing his death as deeply saddening and a painful loss to Nigeria’s creative community.

Atiku, in a condolence message, said it was particularly painful that the news of Ogogo’s death came only days after the public became aware of his battle with cancer.

He described Taiwo Hassan as more than a gifted actor, noting that the veteran entertainer used his talent to entertain, educate and inspire social change throughout his remarkable career.

According to Atiku, Ogogo brought laughter into countless Nigerian homes while using his acting to tell stories that reflected society and encouraged positive values.

“Alhaji Taiwo Hassan was more than a gifted actor. Through a remarkable career, he brought laughter into countless homes, told stories that reflected our society and used his talent not only to entertain but also to educate and inspire social rebirth,” Atiku said.

He said the death of the veteran actor had created a painful void in Nigeria’s creative community and in the hearts of millions who cherished his work.

Atiku also joined Ogogo’s family, colleagues and admirers in Nigeria and across the world in mourning the veteran actor.

“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, comfort his loved ones and grant him eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus. Ameen,” he added.

Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, was a highly respected figure in the Yoruba film industry whose career spanned several decades.
