The Zamfara State Ministry of Budget and Planning has called on the Gusau Emirate to compile and forward the people’s demands for their areas for inclusion in the 2027 budget estimate.

This was announced by the Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Prof. Yahaya Zakari, at a town hall meeting organised for public engagement on the 2027 budget preparations.

Prof. Zakari opined that Governor Lawal’s administration has relied on public demands presented by the public, especially on projects to be executed under any planned budget, which would match their demands for a smooth and legitimate living.

“People’s needs vary according to the nature of their communities; this engagement reflects the commitment of Governor Lawal to inclusive, transparent, and citizen-driven governance. The budget is the blueprint through which we deliver services, projects, and hope to our people.

“This Town Hall Meeting provides a platform for dialogue. It is an opportunity for government to listen, and for citizens to speak. Your ideas, observations, and priorities today will directly shape the programs and projects captured in the 2027 Budget.

“As we deliberate today, I encourage us to focus on priority areas that affect our communities: Peace and Security, Education, Health, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Water, Youth and Women Empowerment, and Social Services.

“Let us engage constructively, with facts and with the unity of our dear state at heart. Your contributions will make a real difference. In consideration of the time constraint.

“I urge all Emirate Councils to forward their submission to the Ministry on or before Friday, 4th September, 2026, to enable our technical team to consolidate the submission into the Budget”, Prof. Zakari has advocated.
