Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles have been drawn against Ghana in the second round of the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

This was confirmed on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) official X handle on Tuesday.

The first of the qualifiers will take place from 9–11 October 2026, while the second legs are billed for 16–18 October 2026.

Senegal will host the 2026 Beach Soccer AFCON, and it will be the second time they will stage the competition having previously a hosted it in 2021.

The competition will also double as the African qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, with qualification granted to both finalists.

Senegal are record five-time winners of the CAF Beach Soccer AFCON, having won the last five consecutive editions, including the 2024 edition in Egypt.

The Super Sand Eagles are the second most successful side in the history of the competition with two titles – 2006 and 2007.

Cameroon are the first country to win the Beach Soccer AFCON when it was first held in 2006 in Durban, South Africa, beating Nigeria 5-3 in the final.

Aside from Senegal, Cameroon and Nigeria, the other country who have also won the AFCON is Madagascar in 2015.

The Super Sand Eagles featured at the maiden Beach Soccer World Cup in 2006 but crashed out in the group stage.

The team has qualified for the World Cup six times (2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2017 and 2019).

Their best outings at the World Cup was reaching the quarterfinals twice in 2007 and 2011.

However, the Super Sand Eagles have failed to reach the last three editions of the tournament (2021, 2024, 2025).
