Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has alleged that corruption appears to be a prerequisite for appointments under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Dalung made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television, reacting to the recently unveiled list of members of Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council. 

The council is chaired by former Zamfara State Governor Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, who has faced multiple corruption-related forfeitures to the federal government.

According to Dalung, the credibility of Nigeria’s democratic transition is undermined when individuals with corruption allegations are entrusted with campaign responsibilities. 

He pointed to figures such as Yari, suspended Minister Betta Edu, and former NSITF Director-General Ngozi Olejeme as examples of controversial appointments.

“If you have a campaign council list made up of persons who have corruption allegations hanging on their necks, then you have to question what the future holds for Nigerians if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is re-elected in 2027,” Dalung said.

He stressed that the nomination of such personalities raises serious concerns about governance and the integrity of Nigeria’s political process.
