The Olayinka Aderinkola Akinrinola Foundation (OAAF) has reached out to vulnerable residents across five communities in Lagos State as its founder, Olayinka Akinrinola, Prophetess and co-founder, Aderinkola Akinrinola marked their 21st wedding anniversary.
The outreach, held on Friday, covered Bariga, Akoka, Yaba, Oyingbo and Ebute Meta, where the foundation distributed food items to individuals and families experiencing economic hardship.
The initiative formed part of activities marking the founders’ 21 years of marriage, with the foundation choosing to extend the celebration to underserved communities rather than limiting it to a private occasion.
OAAF recently renewed its strategic focus around three key areas — child development and protection, women’s economic empowerment and mental health support.
Speaking on the initiative, Dara Adenekan, OAAF Project Manager, said the outreach reflected the Foundation’s commitment to providing practical support to communities.
“Celebrating important milestones should also provide opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of people facing economic challenges” he added while saying that the decision to visit five communities was aimed at ensuring that the anniversary celebration reached beyond the founders’ immediate circle and benefited vulnerable people.
The Foundation, he pointed out, planned to develop more structured interventions addressing immediate needs as well as the long-term challenges contributing to vulnerability among Nigerians.
Olonisola Emmanuel, the Foundation’s Information Technology Manager, said community-based initiatives remained important to understanding and responding to challenges confronting people at the grassroots.
He noted that while technology could facilitate communication and connect people, meaningful social impact required direct engagement with communities.
Emmanuel said the Foundation would seek to combine technology, community engagement and strategic partnerships to reach more beneficiaries in future.
Also speaking, Oluwatosin Adebajo, a member of the organisation, described the outreach as an opportunity to demonstrate compassion and remind vulnerable people that they were valued.
She said the initiative went beyond food distribution, as it enabled members of the foundation to interact with people from different backgrounds and gain a better understanding of their challenges.
The Foundation stated that the outreach provided immediate assistance to individuals and families experiencing economic hardship in the five communities.
The Foundation said it was developing more focused and sustainable programmes around the areas while continuing to respond to urgent needs in underserved communities.
It maintained that meaningful social impact required a combination of immediate relief and long-term interventions aimed at addressing factors that keep individuals and families vulnerable.
The Anniversary outreach, it added, reflected the founders’ shared commitment to service, compassion and giving back to society.
