Abayomi Hunye, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State for the 2027 election, has criticised the party for suspending him after collecting ₦50 million for its nomination form.

Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, Hunye questioned the party’s decision, noting that he had purchased the nomination and expression of interest forms, completed all documentation, and successfully passed the screening process. 

He said he was listed as number 52 on the screening register and was recognised as a valid candidate during the May 21 primary election.

“The first thing they said was that I had been suspended on April 7. How can you suspend me on April 7 and, on April 28, collect money from me and give me a form?” Hunye asked. “I bought the ₦50 million nomination form, filled everything, returned it, and I have the receipt.”

The APC, however, has disowned Hunye’s claim of candidacy, reaffirming Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as its duly recognised flagbearer for the 2027 governorship race in Ogun State.
