Former United States Vice President, Kamala Harris has paid tribute to legendary country music singer and philanthropist, Dolly Parton following her death at the age of 80.

In a statement shared on her social media page, Harris described the iconic artist as a true American icon who rose from humble beginnings in East Tennessee to achieve global superstardom.

Harris highlighted Parton’s remarkable achievements throughout her seven-decade career, pointing out her 11 Grammy Awards, an Emmy, and an honorary Oscar.

She particularly commended Parton’s extraordinary philanthropic, specifically referencing her Imagination Library program, which has distributed over 300 million free books to children worldwide.
